Things To Do in the White Mountains

– Play a Game of Golf in the Mountains
Enjoy a game of golf with some friends at Torreon Golf Club or Bison Golf Club. Torreon’s 36 hole championship golf range is mountain golf at its very best. If you are not a member at Torreon, another great option is Bison Golf Club, which features 18-holes of championship golf designed by PGA Tour star Billy Mayfair. From the surrounding pine trees that give that “middle of the forest” feel, to the the beautifully landscaped green course, either of these golf ranges will give you the ultimate golf experience. A day filled with golf is best accompanied by some cold drinks and delicious food. Wind down at the Torreon Clubhouse and enjoy their cozy cabin atmosphere. It is no secret that their lobster mac and cheese and pan seared salmon are to die for.

– Licano’s Mexican Food and Steakhouse For Dinner
Licano’s not only has amazing mexican food, but has steak and seafood as well. Regardless of what you are craving, I am sure Licano’s has it. Licano’s serving staff always has a way of treating you like family, which I’m sure is why they are a white mountain favorite. There is also a full bar, many times with a live musician playing some of our favorite cover songs, with a fresh-squeezed margarita that will make your mouth water.

– Take a Scenic Hike
If you would like to get a little active, a favorite mountain activity is taking a hike in the fresh air through thousands of pine trees. Some of the most popular trails are the Ice Cave trail, which ends at the Blue Ridge Ice Cave and the Juniper Ridge Trail. Although, there are many options to choose from, depending on the challenge you would like.

– Picnic at Fool Hollow Lake
Take your lunch outside and enjoy some delicious food while engulfing yourself in nature. Not only can you admire the beautiful scenery, but in the spring and summer months you can also get adventurous by heading over to J & T’s Wildlife Outdoors and rent a canoe, kayak or paddle board. They also have mountain bike rentals if you would like to explore the area and get a little bit active.

– Afternoons are for Bike Rides
Take an afternoon bike ride down the Deuce of Clubs and stop at PersNikkitys Cafe and Bakery for brunch. They have an array of delicious breakfast and lunch entrees including a crispy buffalo chicken wrap, California burger and eggs benedict.

– Skiing or Snowboarding at Sunrise Park and Resort
During these cold winter months, head up to Sunrise Ski Park and Resort and spend your day skiing down the mountain. It is just an added benefit that every Saturday night in January and February, Sunrise is offering “Night Ski” from 4:30 until 9:00 P.M. Not only can you spend the entire day at the resort, but you can stay through the night by purchasing an additional night skiing lift ticket. Although, if you are staying at the Sunrise Park Resort, the night skiing lift tickets are complimentary for guests on these Saturday nights in January and February only. Take a break between runs by sipping some warm hot cocoa in the lodge and enjoy lunch or dinner at Summit Restaurant.

– Visit the Petrified Forest

The petrified wood at the Petrified Forest National Park is almost solid quartz, a beautiful sight that you truly have to see to believe. Spend the afternoon walking around the forest and rediscovering how beautiful nature is. If you are feeling adventurous, get off the trail and explore with the new “Off the Beaten Path” addition to the petrified forest. You can choose from 7 scenic hikes that will allow you to see this national park like never before.
