Eastern Arizona Chambers of Commerce Tout “There is Money on the Mountain” in Regional Shop Local Campaign

Five chambers of commerce based in the Mogollon Rim and White Mountains of Arizona have launched a sweepstakes with a grand prize currently at $1,000 and a still growing prize pool.

Titled the Money on the Mountain Giveaway (www.moneyonthemountain.com), locals and visitors alike can enter a drawing to win cash and prizes contributed by the chambers of commerce and their members.

Shoppers in the region enter the giveaway by providing copies of sales receipts for any type of purchase from any business in the participating communities. Store, restaurant, gas station, quick mart, utility company, and every other type of sales receipt from merchants in the communities of Christopher Creek, Concho, Concho Valley, Eagar, Happy Jack, Heber, Kohls Ranch, Lakeside, Overgaard, Payson, Pine, Pinetop, St. Johns, Show Low, Snowflake, Springerville, Star Valley, Strawberry, Taylor, Vernon, or Young are valid. Receipts for purchases made in an entrant’s hometown are worth two entries into the contest—which further encourages the shop local objective.

“We are very proud to be working with the White Mountains’ chambers and Spider Trainers on a program to directly impact our local economies. The Money on the Mountain program provides a valuable reward for doing more of what they already do: shop local and support our businesses,” said Chris Bertone, executive director of the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Receipts must be submitted to one of the sponsoring chambers of commerce on or before 4 PM, October 31st. Each receipt becomes a separate entry into the cash and prizes drawing; or in the case of hometown shopping, two entries. The more receipts submitted by an entrant, the higher their chances of winning. Those who wish to enter without purchase can download a form at the website and submit it once completed.

“What a great opportunity for our local chambers of commerce to sponsor and execute a program with tangible and quantifiable goals and economic value—I can’t wait to see the final grand prize total as contributes of wares and services continue to be added to the prize pool,” said Jimmie Applegate, executive director of the Show Low Chamber of Commerce.

Sponsored by the Pinetop-Lakeside Chamber of Commerce, Show Low Chamber of Commerce, Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, Springerville-Eagar Chamber of Commerce, Snowflake/Taylor Chamber of Commerce, and Spider Trainers, a single winner will be drawn on October 31st.

“It’s rare our mountain communities have an opportunity to work together. The Money on the Mountain campaign promotes our shop local efforts, but also brings real value to our locals and visitors,” said Crystal O’Donnell, executive director at the Pinetop-Lakeside Chamber of Commerce.

A separate drawing is being held for the chambers of commerce members. Member businesses are invited to post coupons on the Money on the Mountain website, and after October 31st, submit each redeemed coupon as an entry to win $500 cash.

“The chambers of commerce have been an outstanding way for me to grow my business after relocating from Denver. Spider Trainers created the Money on the Mountain campaign in order to help the chambers show their members the value of membership. By using receipts as sweepstakes entries, we will be able to track the number of dollars we have influenced, and the coupons enable us to show the merchants how many of their customers hear the chambers’ messages,” said Cyndie Shaffstall, founder of Spider Trainers, a local marketing and web-development firm that crafted the campaign.
